Targeted NIL
Targeted NIL is the primary way NIL has been used in college sports. Funds are directed to a specific athlete to either encourage or help that athlete monetize their Name, Image and Likeness. In most cases the athlete is targeted to help the team's overall success. The money to support these athletes is typically provided by interested alumni or fans. In some cases that relationship is between a business and an athlete, with that support being targeted to a specific athlete.
